MANCHESTER orchestra

Picked as one of the artists to watch in 2007, Rolling Stone Magazine said of their music, "Lavishly moody...expansive in scope and rich in texture while remaining lyrically focused on small moments of revelation." Manchester Orchestra was born from the vision of frontman Andy Hull. Encouraged by friends and fans to pursue his music full time, Hull traded his senior year of high school for writing and recording. During the process, he was joined by friends Jonathan Corley and Jeremiah Edmond, and the sound of Manchester Orchestra began to take shape. The resulting EP, You Brainstorm, I Brainstorm, But Brilliance Needs a Good Editor, was released in 2005, and was the first EP released on the band's new label, Favorite Gentlemen. Close friend, Chris Freeman, and studio intern, Robert McDowell, joined soon after, completing the Manchester Orchestra line up. The band has since released their full length, I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child, which has received world wide acclaim. Manchester Orchestra has been featured at SXSW, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and was the subject of the documentary, What's Left Behind, which will be shown at film festivals and made available on DVD in 2008. The band achieved a personal goal by playing more than 250 shows in 2007, touring around the globe with acts like Kings of Leon, Brand New, Say Anything, and Annuals. The band will take a break from touring this year to work on their sophomore album, which is set to be released in early 2009.

The members of Manchester Orchestra live not only to nurture their music, but the music of others. The group's label, Favorite Gentlemen, is run by Hull and Edmond and now supports a roster of four bands (including their own) and assists and collaborates with seven others.
